Meet Grace Mercy Muruthi: A Creative Changemaker Using Art to Inspire Generosity
Grace Mercy Muruthi is a 29-year-old filmmaker and passionate advocate for social change based in Nairobi, Kenya. With a deep belief in the transformative power of film and theatre, Grace uses her creative talents to spark kindness, generosity, and community action. Her story is a testament to how creativity and compassion can come together to make the world a better place.
Grace is an active member of Sisi Kwa Sisi, a community-based organization whose name translates to “Ourselves to Ourselves.” The organization is grounded in the principle of showing up for one another as a community. Through her involvement, Grace has taken part in impactful initiatives like visiting children’s homes, raising contributions for those in need, and creating meaningful programs that uplift others.
But Grace doesn’t stop there—her work goes beyond organizing community efforts. She produced a short film as part of her commitment to using the arts for social impact. This film, set in Thogoto Forest and a children’s home in Ruiru, Kenya, beautifully captures the essence of generosity and the spirit of giving back. (You can watch it here.)
Her passion for volunteering also shines through her work at church, where she mentors young people through theatre and talent shows. Grace takes it a step further by involving students in her projects, giving them opportunities to learn and grow while contributing to the community.
